LUIZ HENRIQUE FIAMINGHI –  Brazilian fiddles, vielles, research, executive direction

Fiaminghi is a Doctor of Music (performance practice) by Unicamp. He graduated in composition at the same university in 1996. In Brazil, he had Paul Bosísio as teacher in his training as a violinist, and later specialized in baroque violin under Marie Leonhardt and Alda Stuurop in the Netherlands. He was a member of the Baroque Orchestra of the European Community and regularly participates in the Baroque Orchestra of the International Festival of Baroque and Colonial Music of Juiz de Fora. He is currently an adjunct professor of musicology/ethnomusicology, music perception and performance practices at Santa Catarina State University (Udesc). His research areas are mainly the music of the 17th and 18th centuries, musical rhetoric, baroque violin, rhythmics, and the Brazilian fiddle. As managing director, musical director and producer of the ANIMA Group, Fiaminghi toured Brazil and abroad, and was a winner of the APCA (1998), Carlos Gomes (2000), and Funarte Prize for Brazilian Music (2012) awards.
