HUGO PIERI – barytone

Hugo Pieri has a bachelor degree as conductor by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). In Europe he specialized in singing focusing on the interpretation of Baroque music. In 2007 he obtained a Diploma in Music Studies from the Conservatoire de Strasbourg in France and in 2012 he completed his master's degree in singing performance in Early Music by the Superior School of Music in Trossingen, Germany, in the classes of professors Gundula Anders and Jan van Elsacker. He performs as a soloist, choirmaster and in several concerts with chamber music groups, in several countries singing with important names of the historical perfomance like Hervé Niquet, Martin Gester and Maurice van Lieshout. Among his last works are the participation in the group for Renaissance music Schola Stralsundensis (Holland) and Los Biganos (France). Parallel to his work as a singer, he develops work as conductor and voice teacher at Projeto Guri, São Paulo. In his project O Canto Livre Hugo combines the various influences experienced in corporal and energetic practices with vocal technique and musical performance. His work as a music performer aims to connect art, body awareness and presence.
